Master’s Race 10K

The Clam Beach Master’s Race is a special event for runners forty and over. We are a small but optimistic group. This year 34 runners ranging in age from 43 to 85 experienced the unique ocean front course which is part road race and part eco-challenge.

For the third year in a row Reed Richard dominated the men’s race. Dale Bagley came out of seclusion to take second and Cyril Carl ran a strong race to claim third and a coveted spot on the Hobart Brown Trophy!

In the women’s race Laura McNulty chose to skip the race in order to save herself for an all-out effort in the T.U.C. bike race. Lanore Bergenske, running in her first Master’s Race, was unbeatable and will take home the Trophy this year! For the third year in a row Chris Hamer had to settle for second. Tasha Souza ran the fastest time in the women’s race and placed third. Marlene Allen placed first in rarely contested surf fishing and distance running duathlon!

We had nice and calm overcast weather for the “junk-food jamboree” following the race. Thanks once again to Phil Lescano for keeping the food and drinks organized! Thanks also to Sherry’s Party Rentals for delivering the table. Marlene and Margaret treated everyone to juicy oranges. Thanks to Cindy Timek and Paul Kraus and of course many thanks to Yoon who is driving in the fast lane on the information highway and eating cookies and drinking chocolate milk all at the same time!
