Sequoia Park 2M & 5.3M Run 2/19/11

          The Sequoia Park Run was held on a perfect race day. Braving the cold with the rain at bay, there were dozens of people competing in our two events. At 9:30, forty-three runners and their families ran and walked the 2-mile event, and at 10:00, sixty-three folks completed the challenging 5.3-mile course. With so many wonderful friends helping, we were packed up and on the road by noon.

          A huge thank-you to Portia Matheson; she organized the race, helped me mark the course, ran registration, organized the results, and bought all the snacks and water for our runners. Jorie Brundy helped Portia load the equipment from the shed, and then she helped with registration before competing in the 5.3-mile run. It was a gnarly ride for Jorie from Kneeland in the snow!

          Barry Milender watched his son, John, win the 2-miler, and then Barry and Myrna were super helpers at the end of both races. Dan Lipiec helped tear tags to post at the end of the two-mile race.

          Dean Matheson was also a huge help at registration, and he charmed a half-dozen or so new folks into joining SRRC. Berit Myer helped by driving tables and equipment back to the club’s shed and helping Portia unload everything.

          Yoon was there as usual, taking photos of everyone and posting the photos and results in a timely manner for all to enjoy immediately. It was a perfect day! – Wendy P
