* Ed Taylor died last night and doctors think he was basically gone
when he was brought in yesterday morning even though they got his heart working
again. Unfortunately they still haven't been able to
contact the sister in England and the local police couldn't find any way to
contact her and have already been inside his apartment trying to find contact
information. I think that Ed died doing what he enjoyed and lived this long
because he stayed active. I was told that he was an accomplished bicycle racer
and won a big race in Europe in the 50's. He also biked from Mexico to Alaska.

* I am so
appreciative of you being able to fill in some gaps for us, Bruce. It may be
because of my recent experiences, but yesterday I was struck with how important
it is to be "connected" with others. Some of us are very private, and
lead relatively insular lives. While these folks may be part of a family unit
or maintain a few very close friends, they can actually move through larger
social circles (such as a running club) without many people actually ever
getting to know them. I felt sad going through Ed's wallet and finding
information about where he lived and who his doctor was, but not one clue about
someone he might have loved. I'm glad that he left this world doing what he
